How to Build Consistency

Hello guys and welcome back to ShowMe.Fit! I’m Dan from the Accountability Academy and welcome back. So guys, today I want to talk about a very, very easy way of building up consistency in our daily routines. I think we can all agree that we need consistency in our lives. Consistency is the key to getting us the results that we want down the line. If you can diet for one day that’s not going to do anything but if we can have a healthy nutritious lifestyle for months on end, that’s how we get the results that we want. The same goes for everything right? We can be really, really intense one day but that does absolutely nothing… We need that consistency over a period of time for us to get the results we want. So, one easy way for us to build that consistency is to set the bar really low. Really, really low. Everyone screams at me for this, “Dan, why would we set the bar really low? Why would we be setting the bar? We’ve got to shoot for the heaven! We’ve got to set the bar really high so we can hit it!” Yes, I’m not telling you to have low aspirations for yourself but am telling you that at the start of your health and fitness journey, business journey, professional life, personal life, wherever it may be, if we can set the bar low and hit that win really, really early on, that allows us to catapult and then build for the next win and the next win and the next win.

Essentially what consistency is, is just a series of small wins. Now you might not at the start of your journey be setting really massive goals, you might not be, none of us are. If I was starting to run now I would be setting really small goals. We set these small goals for ourselves, really small, and then we hit it, and then we go to the next one and then we go to the next one. Overtime we built this self-belief and self-respect for ourselves that we’ve built up a series of wins and that is how we get the results, that is how we build consistency, it’s a series of constant wins, that overtime produce the results that we want. That is how I get my client and the clients here at ShowMe.Fit to get the results that they want. We set the bar really low. You’re going to have one healthy meal a day, then we’re going to build up to two healthy meals and before we know it, we are eating healthy, nutritious meals 85 to 90% of the time and we’re living that real sustainable diet and lifestyle that we are searching for.

So, if you are struggling to stay consistent in anything, set the bar really, really, like really low. Really low, like really really low. If you can’t go for a run, you go for a walk. If you can’t do a workout, you do a smaller 5-10 minute jump around in your living room. Set the bar really, really low, hit that win and then go for the next win. Then slowly, overtime, we set these manageable, sustainable wins and progression that build self-belief in ourselves and you build self-respect knowing that you’ve got a series of wins behind you and that is how we build consistency. So if you’re struggling with your consistency, if you’re struggling to maintain this lifestyle that you’re trying to build for yourself, that is how you do it. Small, consistent wins overtime. That was a mouthful…!

Have a great day and I’ll see you soon. I’m Dan from the Accountability Academy. Have a great day and welcome to ShowMe.Fit. Bye!
